Fifteen years ago, Montana Watch Company owner/founder Jeffrey Nashan embarked on a unique venture, starting up a small business pursuing his passion to recreate early American timepieces. “I created the Montana Watch Company to rekindle the great American heyday of watch manufacture,” he explains. “My story began with one watch…the 1915”.
The first watch, the Model 1915 captured the traditional design of the earliest wristwatches and quickly gained notoriety among watch enthusiasts worldwide. The original 1915 completed its run after selling roughly one hundred and fifty classic and custom designed watches. Bringing back this design in a Limited Edition Model 1915 Reissue seemed the perfect way to celebrate the company’s fifteenth anniversary, and is proudly debuting at Dallas Safari Club in three distinct variations:
• The Model 1915 R Classic captures the style of the original 1915. The solid silver case featuring distinctive utilitarian wire lugs and the baked enamel dial with bold graphics are signature design elements in this sophisticated look. The Classic is limited to 6 pieces.
• The Model 1915 R Western Design features the addition of Western single-point line work engraving that evokes a cowboy flair. Hand engraved with traditional techniques that have been passed down over generations, each case has the signature scroll of our master engravers. The Western Design is limited to 5 pieces.
• The Model 1915 R Western Design Premium takes the 1915 to the highest level, Western single-point engraving in deep relief accents the four solid gold overlays. Each overlay and the winding crown are embellished with a genuine ruby, the traditional 15th anniversary gemstone. The Western Design Premium is limited to 4 pieces.
Over the past 15 years, building on the success of the Model 1915, the Montana Watch Company has created a truly distinctive collection including nine additional models and specializing in custom designed variations. This allows customers to become highly involved in the design process, personalizing their watches with everything from embellishments such as hand engraving overlays and gemstones to creating their own complete proprietary design from the ground up. The Montana Watch Company provides clients the unique opportunity to customize almost every aspect of the watch, including individual dial graphics, hands, buckles, and custom-fitted hand-cut leather straps.
While these truly distinctive heirloom quality timepieces are inspired by the designs of early American watchmakers, close to 95% of Montana Watch Company’s work is individually customized, each watch being designed after in-depth consultations with the client.
Once the client has decided upon individual components for their personalized custom watch, master artisans, engravers, jewelers, silversmiths and leather artists work together to complete the often intricate and unique designs. After all of the different elements are finished, the pieces are hand-assembled by Mr. Nashan in his studio, using the finest Swiss movements that he re-calibrates to his own exacting specifications. In order to maintain the high quality of craftsmanship for which it is now well known, Montana Watch only builds 75 to 100 watches per year.
The opportunity to design what inevitably becomes a highly personalized and treasured heirloom is what makes Montana Watch Company different from the majority of other watchmakers worldwide. This unique Montana business caters to every taste, from bold and flashy to subtle classic sophistication. Montana watches don’t just tell time, they tell a story.
“Many people today have abandoned the tradition of wearing a wristwatch in favor of high tech cellular devices to keep track of their day,” states Mr. Nashan. “Montana Watch Company clients take pleasure in a functional piece of artwork proudly displayed and enjoyed on their person. Each glance reminds them of our American heritage and craftsmanship uniquely celebrated in traditional vintage styling and the customization that reflects their own personal style”.
